Native d'Alsace, ayant vécu à Strasbourg, entrée chez les moniales dominicaines du monastère d'Unterlinden de Colmar, Suzanne Eck était naturellement portée à s'intéresser aux mystiques rhénans (Eckhart, Tauler et Suso) dont elle est devenue, par une fréquentation assidue de leurs œuvres, l'une des meilleures spécialistes. Elle rassemble, dans cet ouvrage, les principales études qu'elle leur a consacrées. Ce recueil n'est donc en rien une initiation d'ensemble. Il s'agit plutôt d'un florilège, plein d'évocations diverses, sur cette étonnante « école de spiritualit頻 que constituent les écrits des mystiques rhénans, « prédicateurs de la grâce ».

Born in Alsace, Suzanne Eck lived in Strasbourg before entering into the Dominican Convent of Unterlinden in Colmar. Naturally drawn to the mystics of the Rhineland (Eckhart, Tauler and Suso), she explored their works devotedly, becoming one of their most distinguished specialists. In this book, she assembles her principal studies to produce a selection that is not a global initiation; rather an anthology, evoking a wide variety of subjects, such as the astonishing ‘school of spirituality’ constituted by the writings of the Rhineland mystics, ‘preachers of grace’.
