“Fondacio” – a Church experience as yet little-known. Yet the community is present throughout several continents. Fondacio is a way of living and thinking the Church. Fondacio is a Catholic community but an ecumenical lifestyle. Fondacio, an original experiment for all those who believe that barriers are made to be broken down. One of the strong points of the Fondacio approach is the reflection on what the Church will be in the days to come. Because that reality is not simply an abstraction; it adapts to whatever time and place it happens to be in, to send out its audible message of fraternity. It takes a certain nerve and a taste for adventure to oblige yourself to do that: to accept the responsibility, to make this your creative work for the Gospel. The contributions in this book say it all clearly: Fondacio has given itself the means to obtain its ends and constantly combines experience with reflection. It should also be added that Fondacio does not limit its reflection to the future of an ecclesiastical organisation. A certain ambition is visible, stamped with the hallmark of the Gospel: to make sure that our self-interest does not allow us to forget our concern for others. ‘Aimer l’Eglise, aimer le monde’ is not a syllabus. It is a certain way of looking at life. A certain spirit, quite simply, to be discovered and shared.
