La Bonne Nouvelle de Dieu

« Bonne Nouvelle de Dieu » ou « Bonne Nouvelle de Jésus Christ » ? Comment articuler de manière cohérente ces deux réalités qui forment le cœur des discours d'évangélisation prononcés par Pierre dans les Actes des Apôtres ? Tout en reconnaissant que Jésus Christ occupe une place importante dans ces annonces de la Bonne Nouvelle, il semble qu'on ait négligé la place et la fonction que Dieu y tient. Situation pour le moins étonnante puisque Dieu est présenté comme un personnage actif dont les actions et les prises de parole sont constamment rappelées à la mémoire du lecteur. Pour explorer cette question, Christian Dionne privilégie une étude synchronique des textes et met à contribution un outil méthodologique particulier : la caractérisation des personnages. Cet outil, développé par l'analyse narrative, permet de répondre à des questions comme : quels sont les traits dont se compose la figure narrative du Dieu des discours pétriniens ? Comment ces traits se développent-ils ou se modifient-ils au cours du récit ? Comment les relations du personnage « Dieu » évoluent-elles par rapport aux autres personnages et en fonction de l'intrigue du récit ? D'où vient l'information qui nous est donnée sur Dieu ? Ainsi l'auteur met en lumière que la théologie des discours constitue une composante essentielle et fondamentale de l'annonce de la Bonne Nouvelle adressée aux juifs.

‘Good news from God’, as the title puts it, or ‘Good news from Jesus Christ’? How does one articulate, in a coherent way, these two realities that form the core of Peter’s evangelical discourse in the Acts of the Apostles? While acknowledging that Jesus Christ plays a vital role in the proclaiming of the Good News, we may feel that the role and function of God therein have been neglected: an astonishing situation, to say the least, since God is presented as an active personage whose pronouncements and actions are constantly brought to the fore of reader’s mind. To explore this problematic, Christian Dionne has elected for a synchronic study of the texts, employing one particular methodological tool: the characterisation of the protagonists. This tool, developed through analysis of the narrative, enables one to answer such questions as: what are the characteristics that constitute the narrative figure of God in the Petrine discourse? How are these characteristics developed or modified as the story unfolds? How does the ‘God’ personage evolve with regard to the other characters and the intrigues of the plot? Where does our information about God come from? In this way, the author demonstrates that the theology of discourse constitutes an essential and fundamental component of the bringing of the Good News as it was addressed to the Jews.
